Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean) Theme: This section is based on Pauranik (ancient Hindu mythological) themes, a concept strongly advocated by Jayeshbhai of Bolbala Trust, who is deeply rooted in Sanatan Dharma. He has previously encouraged artists to work on themes like the Ramayana. Artists are expected to research Hindu culture, mythology, and references to create their works. 2. Themeless Exhibition: This section allows artists to display their original creations based on their personal preferences and creativity. The exhibition showcases a variety of mediums, including acrylic colors, pencil colors, and charcoal, with some charcoal paintings noted as "amazing". Additionally, there are craft-based works that incorporate materials beyond just paint and brush, such as external objects applied to the surface. The exhibition also features experimental art, including pieces with 3D effects (like a Krishna painting with inner and outer levels or decorative elements applied externally), similar to production styles seen in Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Artists and Support: The exhibition includes both senior artists and newly joined junior artists, reflecting Rajkot's vibrant youth interested in art. Nalin Suchak expressed high hopes for these young artists, noting their dedication, thoughtful approach, extensive observation, and application of diverse influences in their work. Organizers and Other Art Activities in Rajkot: The exhibition is organized by friends of the Akruti Group. Jayeshbhai of Bolbala Trust plays a crucial role, providing immense support to artists and significantly contributing to the development of art and artists in Rajkot. Beyond this exhibition, the Akruti Group runs various activities, including "Art Street" every Sunday, offering free coaching to artists. They also organize live drawing sessions with models behind the Planetarium, where 20-25 artists gather. The gallery also has a beautiful and scenic campus outside, providing artists with a space for outdoor activities. The exhibition aims to encourage these experimental young artists. Nalin Suchak also emphasized the importance of artists learning to price their paintings based on quality, noting that many works in the exhibition are of a standard suitable for display in major galleries outside Rajkot and could command significant prices.
